We should all be ecstatic. Amazon’s behemoth acquisition of Whole Foods will single-handedly transform the perception of that “oh so expensive organic grocery store.”
Let me explain. Amazon, the market leader in leveraging the internet to effectively and efficiently lower the costs for consumers, will bring that same philosophy to the forefront of the Whole Foods management strategy.
For quite some time, Whole Foods has been known to hold quite the stronghold on overpriced, albeit high-quality private brand labels. Amazon has effectively stripped Whole Foods of this significant power over the socioeconomically disadvantaged—gone are the days of “whole paycheck.”
I am confident in Amazon’s ability to truly make Whole Foods the leader in truly accessible, high-quality food to the general population. The acquisition will open the doors to true health, as Whole Foods will finally provide access to healthy, high-quality food to the general population, not just to those with deep pockets.
Amazon is truly an ingenious company. A close friend also pointed out that they are actively and strategically entering the brick-and-mortar market from a retail standpoint—Amazon is now hitting on all cylinders in food services retail. While the Company was already slowly transitioning to brick-and-mortar from a logistics standpoint, the acquisition puts Amazon at the forefront of grocery food chains.
As a minimalist, I find ways to add wealth and health to my life in the least consumptive way possible. I believe Amazon and its management abides by the same core principles. The Company is set on maximizing value in cost efficiency, which is what they will bring to the Whole Foods culture—lower costs for the company will mean lower costs for the consumer, meaning high-quality, organic food for all that live in my beautiful city of Chicago.
Don’t you worry Chicago—we will all have the best organic produce and grass-fed meat that life has to offer in no time. I cannot wait for my brothers and sisters to enjoy in the splendor. After this merger, Amazon will surely be adding value to the lives of many in Chicago.
And with this merger, I predict Whole Foods retail stores will span the entire city, within every neighborhood, regardless of socioeconomic demographics.
